Written In Stone: Climbing’s Most Important Ascents
Written In Stone tells the (mostly) true stories of the most ground-breaking ascents in rock climbing history. Hosted by Kris Hampton, you’ll hear narrated, sound-designed stories about what led to new levels in climbing, alternated with conversations with today’s top climbers about what inspired them about what went down way back then.
Season Two is focused on the 1980s: The birth of sport climbing as we know it, the struggles with changing rules and ethics, the women who paved the way for the superstars of the ‘90s and ‘00s. Patrick Edlinger, Jerry Moffatt, Wolfgang Güllich, Catherine Destivelle, Lynn Hill, and more.
Like Todd Skinner always said, “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”

Founded in 2015 in the back corner of an auto shop in Denver, Colorado, Tension Climbing was built not only on the idea that good design can improve the climbing experience, but also that the way we do business can drive improvement in our community and industry.
In 1981 in the attic of a small, terraced house in Sheffield – the center of the climbing community in the UK – Rab Carrington made the first sleeping bag to bear his name. More than 40 years later, the people at Rab are still crafting rugged, high-performance clothing and equipment for the mountains. The kind of gear that becomes a staple in your kit. That you’d rather repair than replace.
Rab are on a journey to reduce the impact of their business and expand access to the outdoors. They’re committed to preserving our mountain playgrounds for future generations because they know that The Mountains are our Meeting Place.
